Henselite Junior Squad Based at Brighton

While Lawn Bowls is the game for all ages and is mostly played by older people, there is no doubt that younger people play it very well. In recent years the average age of the Australian Lawn Bowling team has been lower than the average age of the Australian cricket team.

Our youngest pennant bowler, ten year old Lucien Haines, recently played a game in a team which included 89 year old Peter Martin.

Brighton Bowling Club now hosts the Bowls SA junior squad for all clubs in the South West of Adelaide “The South West Bowling Bombers”. This group meets for training on Tuesday afternoons between 4.15 and 5.30 every week in school terms. BowlsSA organises a monthly inter squad game on Sundays.

All coaches are accredited and coaches and organisers have appropriate police clearances. The coordinators of this group are Linda and Chris Haines, Lucien’s parents, and the coach is Bob Tuck

Juniors aged from 7 to 17 are most welcome to join this group. The cost for the first year is $40 and thanks to an excellent sponsorship from Henselite all members will receive a squad shirt valued at $70. Bowls and other equipment are provided free of charge, and there is no additional charge for training sessions and games. No previous bowling experience is needed.

If you know of a junior who might like to try a different sport please contact Linda Haines on 82967118
